Sarah & Maurice’s Wedding Day

Syona Photography; June 23rd, 2019

Sarah and Maurice got married on 22nd June last year in one of the coziest venues in Ireland, Ashley Park House in Nenagh, county Tipperary. Their wedding was published on OnefabDay and I feel Claire describes their wedding in the best possibly way, have a look and be inspired:

The one thing we wish for any couple in our real weddings is that they get not just the wedding day they planned, but one that exceeds even their wildest expectations. Limerick couple, Sarah & Maurice attend ten weddings a year, so they know what makes a good one! The magic formula? Gorgeous style, endless sunshine, even more endless cocktails, and a party atmosphere that had guests singing from the ceremony, until breakfast time the next day!

Sarah and Maurice have been together since school, “Our eyes met over our books at after school study in Julie Kilmartin’s in Limerick when we were studying (meant to be studying) for our Leaving Cert,” Sarah tell us. “We knew each others’ faces from mutual friends who were and still are together, Vicki and Fintan. One March evening while concentrating hard on the books I received a text from someone claiming to be ‘a secret admirer’ after a few coy messages back and forth Maurice finally admitted it was him…and the rest is history!”

The bride and groom were eager for their wedding to have a thoroughly laid-back feel, and that began the night before the wedding “One of the best decisions we made was bringing the entire wedding party, parents and siblings out to Ashley Park House the night before the wedding for a big rehearsal dinner. We actually were having so much fun and having a few too many G&Ts on the lawn in the sunshine we completely forgot to have a rehearsal the night before!” says Sarah. “By staying in the venue the night before it meant that when we woke up on the morning of the wedding we could all completely relax and just enjoy the build up as everything came to us. The boys were down hitting golf balls in the lake while we were up getting glammed up.”  Sarah got her gorgeous wedding dress at The Attic Bridal Boutique in Limerick, “Orlaith Carroll went above and beyond to find me the dress of my dreams and make sure it fitted me perfectly,” says the bride. “No request was too large and I would recommend any bride to go to her to help them with their wedding dress dreams. She herself is a dress designer also so I felt utterly safe in her talented hands and trusted all her suggestions and guidance.”   The vibe for the day was set from the moment guests arrived… “With everyone standing out in front of the lake in the gorgeous sunshine having a drink before the ceremony chatting and laughing. The day was so nice that people starting arriving up to two hour before the ceremony and this got us so excited as the boys were downstairs mingling and we were looking down from our lovely room through the sash windows soaking up the buzz.” The couple decided early in their planning that they wanted a personalised ceremony. “We asked my brother Mark would he perform the ceremony. I knew he was going to be great but the personal touches he added to our ceremony just blew us away.” Sarah’s brother had everyone laughing and feeling involved from the very beginning. “He had us all in tears as he read aloud the children book ‘The Scarecrows’ Wedding’ by Julia Donaldson. At first we didn’t know where he was going with it, but oh my God it’s about two scarecrows who were in love and travelled around the farm to gather all they needed for their wedding,” explains Sarah. “The main line in the book was about how the scarecrows were planning ‘the best wedding ever, the best wedding yet, a wedding that no one would ever forget’ It was so beautiful no one could control themselves. It soon became the slogan of our wedding weekend!”   The couple and their guests were treated to some pretty special ceremony music, “We were so lucky that Maurice’s step-dad Gerry works with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and was able to arrange four of their talented musicians to perform during our ceremony. We chose very modern songs for our ceremony; Oasis, Wonderwall, Coldplay, Fix You, and Beyonce, Halo, which were all played by strings and were just so beautiful. I remember vividly Maurice turning around to me as everyone was singing along to Wonderwall in the middle of the ceremony saying ‘we are going to have one hell of a day!’”  And that wasn’t it for the ceremony tunes, “My three amazing cousins also sang us out with everyone joining in to the Beatles ‘All You Need is Love’.” It was just the beginning of the party wedding we always wanted. The ceremony set the tone for a party atmosphere that lasted into the night, “Guests sipped on G&Ts, Prosecco and Pimms in the sunshine on the lawn before dinner, espresso martinis after dinner and danced the night away to our band, The Good Hustle. The band were so amazing that every time you went to get off the dance floor you couldn’t leave because the music was just too good. Everyone is still commenting about how great they were.” After pulling off their perfect party, Sarah and Maurice have some advice to pass on. “Just enjoy every minute of not just your wedding day but the whole build up to it. The entire build-up to the wedding, the wedding day, the second day and the weeks after are just such an amazing time in your life. You will just be surrounded by such love and excitement coming from your family and friends that there’s absolutely nothing like it.”
